Normal Shoulder Anatomy

A clinically oriented 3D view of the glenohumeral complex, rotator cuff, long-head biceps tendon and subacromial-subdeltoid bursa.

Detailed view

What to notice

  • Orient the humeral head, glenoid, scapula, clavicle, acromion and coracoid before interpreting pathology.
  • The supraspinatus tendon passes beneath the acromial region to the greater tuberosity.
  • The long-head biceps tendon and subacromial-subdeltoid bursa are important neighboring structures in shoulder pain assessment.

The visual should be interpreted with the accompanying clinical context. PNA avoids using a single image or special test as stand-alone proof of a diagnosis.
