Safety / do not apply when…
Unexplained chest pain, dyspnea or serious cardiopulmonary symptoms warrant medical evaluation rather than manual therapy.
Avoid suspected rib fracture, infection, recent unstable surgery or significant bone fragility.
Stop for new neurological symptoms, marked chest discomfort or difficulty breathing during positioning.
Clinical rule
A technically correct technique is not automatically a useful technique. Keep it only when the patient's pain, range or function improves in a clinically meaningful way, then transfer that gain into active movement, loading or self-management.
